Todd crosses the finish line in his 5K.

Well, we ran with Todd and Team Longhorn today in the Biggest Loser's Sweetheart Run. Todd and the team ran the 5K first. His boss, Jon, came down to run it with the team. It was neat to have him there. Todd finished the race in just over 30 minutes...not to bad for an old guy! I am proud of him for even attempting it. He finished around the middle of the pack which is good for him. After he rested up for a few minutes, he turned right around and joined me and the girls in the running of the one mile! Bailey and Sarah wanted to run it after last year seeing their dad do the 5K. I somehow got hoodwinked into joining them. I hate running. I can walk to the moon and back, but running is just not my thing...never has been. I was dreading this, but wanted to be supportive of Todd and the girls. All Bailey wanted was a trophy. She had her heart set on it, and Todd and I had our back up plan of if she didn't get one, we were swinging by the trophy shop on the way home to get her one ourselves! LOL Well, she proved to us she didn't need that trip because she finished 2nd in her age division! She was so excited! Sarah also finished 2nd in her age division! Todd finished 2nd as well in the one mile, and shocker of them all, I finished 3rd in my age group! Not too bad for a woman who hates running! And just for the record, my time was faster than Todd's, but they separate out males and females.....and even though I am giving Todd hell for my time beating his, I have to give him props because he ran a 5K prior to running the 1 mile so he was a bit whipped! After the race, we all were exhausted! We stayed for Bailey and Sarah to get their trophies and we got our trophy coffee mugs! We headed home for some showers and lunch, and then poor Todd had to head into work until ten tonight....he is tired and his legs cramped up a bit from the run. Hope he doesn't suffer too bad tonight and tomorrow.
The other happenings of the week include the loss of our second cat, Oliver. He was hit by a car just like Shaft was. So needless to say, we are done with cats...outside or not. The previous owners of our house had three cats and all three have come back to live here, so we have cats but they just are not ours per se. Bailey took it pretty hard. We had to console her for a few days. It was not fun and very hard to try to explain to her why it happened.
Todd's dad is headed to our house again to help finish up the garage. He will be here tomorrow thru Thursday. Todd hopes to get the garage done and he wants to replace our hot water heater too if they have time. We had the contractor come out to the house to look at the bathroom for our remodel of that. He is suppose to get back to us next week with a quote. Hopefully we can get it done, but we will see how much it ends up being.
I guess that is all for now. I hope everyone has a great week....as for me, I am going to find the BenGay to rub on my aching legs and back!

Spring has Sprung!

Although this picture was taken back in December, my Camilla bush out in front of the house is loaded with these beautiful blooms. This past week has been beautiful. We have had temps in the mid 70's. It has been wonderful to be outside. I have been very stressed out due to car repair issues, but in the midst of the stress I have been able to take the convertible out with the top down and enjoy the weather which has relieved the stress a little bit.
We sold our Escort in the midst of the van being in the shop all week, so we had to put the convertible that we got from the auction on the road. The girls have loved me picking them up from school with the top down and the music playing. Bailey got in the car the other day and said really loud, "I love my life"....I think she liked looking cool to her friends. It was funny. She sits in the back of the car, just laughing and singing really loud. It has been kind of refreshing to see her childhood wonder and excitement.
I know it has been a while since I have written on here, but I have had so much going on with just minor day to day errands and to dos. We have a long weekend this weekend, so I have vowed we are going to relax and "reconnect" as a family. I have told the girls not to make any plans because I just want to hang out around the house. I am looking so forward to it.
Todd will of course be busy with it being Valentine's weekend which is his busiest day of the year, plus the Daytona 500 is this weekend, so he will get the travellers too. I hope it all goes smooth for him.
Well, I hope you all will have a relaxing weekend and that the weather will cooperate too.
Enjoy!

Bailey's day!

Bailey was all excited to come home from school on Thursday to tell me what happened to her. They had an author/illustrator come to their school. His name was C. Soenpiet. He is a well known author....obviously not that well know as I haven't ever heard of him....LOL....but anyway, she got chosen to be a model for him. He was showing the students of her school how he illustrates his books and gets models for him to sketch. So she was chosen and she had to pose for him to sketch her. He then gave her the sketch, which he signed, and now she has proudly displayed at our house. Personally, I can't figure the sketch out, but Bailey has it all figured out. It looks like a modern art drawing to me. Bailey even says he made her look like a "dude". She was so cute as she described the whole thing to me. The librarian at her school sent me these pictures of her when she was "modeling".
We have had a pretty uneventful week. Just the typical running around, work, etc. Sarah did get some good news this week as well. She has been nominated for the JSU (Jacksonville State University in Alabama)Honor Band. She also was asked by her band director to play with the high schoolers at their Music Festival. She was sooooo excited. Her festival is in March and the JSU Honor Band thing is in May, so she will have lots of practices after school coming up.
I guess that is all for now. Hope you all have a great week.

Weekend events

Well, as you can see from the pictures, the garage is going up. They got all of the framing done and the roof on totally. Todd is gonna have to do the siding himself, I think anyway, and then his dad will be back at the end of February to help him with the windows and doors. The garage door will be installed by the people we ordered the door from. They got a lot done and were dog tired each night when they came in. It also didn't help that the beginning of the week was freezing. But they braved the weather and got their work done.
The picture of me hanging out of the short bus is from a fundraising event I went to called the Ya Ya Sisterhood. Some of you may have seen the movie as to what ya ya's are about, but anyway, they had a fundraiser for The Tifton Women's Center and some of the girls from the preschool wanted to do a table. We had to pick a theme for our table and then you dress up to go along with your theme. We were the revenge of the nerds and boy, did we have fun! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. It was a great night out and we are planning for next year already.
I went to a ladies retreat at my church on Saturday which was really nice as well. So I did get a little bit of me time which I desparately needed. Both the girls have stuff going on at church tonight, so we will be off to do all that in a little while. So in the mean time, I am gonna just relax a little bit even though my house needs cleaning.
Hugs to all.

Our first Wii disaster.....

Too funny....I decided to rent a wii game for Todd today from the movie rental store. I got him Fishing Frenzy thinking he would really enjoy it. He has been a little hesitant on the whole wii thing because he knows once he starts he will be addicted. Well....this game did it. He has been playing all afternoon. A little bit ago he was casting his line in the water and when he swung his hand the line didn't cast, so he stood up to cast again and this time his hand hit the ceiling fan that he just hung up for me three days ago. It sent the globe on the ceiling fan crashing to the ground.....it was hysterical because being the dedicated fisherman that my husband is he kept on fishing cuz he didn't want to miss the fish that he was casting toward which did bite his lure and then he successfully reeled it in to the boat. So as he is standing there in a pile of glass, he is still holding on to his remote.....I was laughing so hard. And for the record it was a 5 pound bass.....like we care, right. So I have added pictures to show you what the ceiling fan looked like before he hit it...I have an identical one in my master bedroom....and then the after effects. Notice he is now sitting while he fishes and casts. So needless to say, he will be going to Lowes tomorrow to get me a new globe. Who knew this thing would be so action packed? Well I just had to share. I better get going to cook dinner.....did I tell you we are having fish for dinner???LOL

Happy Birthday, Reilly!

Reilly is 8 years old today. She has been with us since she was about 7 weeks old. She is the best dog most of the time. She is so mild natured and just a great big fat furball. She has been a constant companion to my girls and to us. Todd and I just saw the movie Marley and Me. If you haven't seen it, it is a must do. I loved the movie, and I will have to say you are gonna cry, and if you don't then you don't have a heart in you. Well, Reilly is like our Marley. She is loyal to the end and is just all about love. You could probably beat the tar out of her (which we have never done, by the way, and don't ever intend to) and she will still come up to you and just roll on her back to get her belly rubbed like she is your best friend in the world. She doesn't have a mean side in her, at least I don't think she does. Sometimes I just look at her and wonder what the world would be like if people were like Reilly. The world would be so much brighter and happier. People wouldn't stab others in the back or just be out for themselves. People would love each other unconditionally and without judgement. It just would be a much better world to live in. Sometimes I think God created dogs so people can see how we are all supposed to act. In reality, all dogs ask of us is to feed them and love them.....and that is all...no more, no less. Well, all I can say is I am so glad Reilly has been a part of our family and I hope we have many more years with her. She is our furry child, and we love her with our whole heart. Happy Birthday my loyal friend!

Back to the Grind

We all headed back to school today. My day actually went fairly well. The kids were a little wound up, but I kinda expected it being back after a two and a half week break. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.
The girls had a great day back. Sarah seems to like her new teachers and was in a fairly decent mood when I picked her up. Bailey said that they worked all day because they had a lot of catching up to do.....she cracks me up. They both are at church right now for Wednesday activities, so I thought I would take this time to get caught up on a few things around the house.
We are having quite a windy day today. We woke up to 70 mile an hour winds this morning. It about scared the you know what out of me. I didn't like the sound of the wind whipping across the field which is across from our house. It was a little nerve racking for a while there. The temps here have been so screwed up, but they are saying it is suppose to final start to get cold her by next week. We have flowers blooming in the yard already, so the flowers and trees will all be messed up come this spring.
Todd started his Biggest Loser competition on Monday. He "bulked" up again over the holidays, so he is on it hard to try and get back to where he was last year when he finished it. We will see how he does. He won't let me take a before picture of him, but I am gonna try and "sneak" one on him, so we have something to compare to.
Well, I guess that is all for now. I gotta go get my ironing done....woo hoo!
Talk to you all soon.
